Description

The exhibition "Elles font l'abstraction" aims to write the history of the contributions of women artists to abstraction in the twentieth century, with some unprecedented incursions into the nineteenth century.

Born in 1891 in Columbus, (Georgia), Alma Woodsey Thomas didn't devote herself to painting until she retired. Refusing to turn her art into a political fight, she just wants to create something beautiful that you want to spend time watching. She is the first African-American woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum.
