Erró, 50 ans de collages | Exhibition catalogue
|
Description
Inspired by illustrations he finds in magazines, pictures of Chinese propaganda or American comics, Erró is from the late 1950s a virtuoso of collage and a great figure of Narrative Figuration. Fascinated by visual shocks and combining different times and spaces, his creations are comical, disturbing, imbued with humor and derision. In these collages which deeply influence his paintings Erró mocks consumerism, denounces war and derides political power.
First exhibition focusing on this peculiar aspect of his work, "Erró, 50 ans de collages" presents all the exceptional donation granted by the artist to the Centre Pompidou in 2009 and completed with a selection of collages from other collections.
